Paper Cuts Collective Zine Co-op founders Bianca Valentino & Jeremy Staples facilitated zine workshops as part of the Museum of Brisbane’s The Stoke - A History of Brisbane Skateboarding exhibition earlier in the year. Bianca has written a blog post about the experience at her blog: Conversations with Bianca. Enjoy & share! :)

Many thanks to all at the Museum of Brisbane especially one of PCC’s favourite people in the whole world – Anne-Marie Te Whiu. Photo courtesy of the Museum of Brisbane.
And so the countdown begins… we’re two months out from the Papercuts Collective triple zine launch and exhibition at Bleeding Heart Gallery!!
Yesterday Staples, Matt and I had our first meeting with everyone present and accounted for (up until now it’s only been two of us at any one time) to discuss/plan the event details. It’s definitely shaping up to be something really fun! As details are cemented we’ll update you here. One thing I can tell you right now is, that it is a celebration of independent publishing, art, music & d.i.y. culture.
I’m also going to blog about my personal experience of pulling everything together for the event at ConversationsWithBianca.com. I feel quite emotional about it all. I’ve been working on my project Conversations With Punx for six years! So for me, to be at this point is huge! I’m EXCITED. I’m scared. I’m anxious. I’m feeling overwhelmed. I’m feeling elated. So much to do! Staples and Matt did their best at our meeting to calm my nerves, silence my doubts and in general stop me from freaking out… ha ha thanks guys! ;)
It’s been really wonderful to work with them. We were all making zines around the same time years ago and, until the last couple of months we’d never really met each other in person despite all operating within the Queensland, Australia punk and zine community.
I’m really proud of the fact that after all this time we’re still making zines. We all make zines and blog (they’re super similar peep the Kathleen Hanna vid). And I’m super proud that we’ve all decided to get together and do-it-together! I’ve always held the belief that by helping friends you also help yourself. It’s nice to have like-minded people to bounce ideas off… it’s nice to all working together for a common goal. It’s nice to feel that people have your back. It’s nice to utilize our strengths and help each other work on our weaknesses.
If you would like to get involved or think you could help out in anyway get in contact. We’d love to hear from you.
With love,
Bianca
