The Paper Cuts Collective

0 Notes

As you already know, founding members of The Paper Cuts Collective: Valentino, Limmer and I (Staples), are launching our blood, sweat and tears to the world in the form of our zines. This is all taking place on the THURSDAY 2nd of September at the Bleeding Heart Gallery (166 Ann St, Brisbane) from 6pm.

We’re not just launching our zines to the world. We have also put together an exhibition that has links to our zines in some way. I’m showcasing my postcard mail art project, photos and junk from the road. Which will include photography from contemporary American artist Rebecca Tillett (photo above). I stumbled upon Rebecca in a dive bar in Tucson, Arizona. I caught up with her again in her hometown of Colorado Springs. Without any warning, I was a model for a photo shot. The photo from that shoot became the cover of my zine: ‘Whenever I see a bearded hobo on the street, I’ll think of you and smile’.

The ZINE FAIR (day after the launch, FRIDAY the 3rd of September, also at Bleeding Heart) now has over 14 tables booked! Check out the up-dated list of table holders. If you create a zine, comic or some form of DIY publication, or simply enjoy reading them, come along and say “hi”, and support the scene.

The Paper Cuts Collective are trying to build a zine/DIY publishing community and for that to happen we need you! People who read, write, make and buy DIY Publications. We don’t bite, well I plan not to. But that may change throughout the launch and zine fair.
